Unoaked vs Oaked Chardonnay
October 14, 2020Simple Differences Between Bourbon & Whiskey
October 27, 2020Vineyards are highly sensitive areas for growth. Before planting a vineyard, one must consider many different aspects, climate change through the seasons being a major one. The change in climate can be such a nightmare for vineyard owners because it is one of the aspects that is least out of their control. Frost is their biggest nightmare. The process of vineyard growth goes like this: when vineyards bloom in spring, green leaves appear first (bud break) and then grow shoots. As it gets warmer, those shoots will elongate and bloom flowers that will eventually fall off and grapes will grow in its place. However, one frost from an overnight low in the spring can damage the bud break leaves and cause that entire vine to be unusable. Luckily, vineyard owners over the years have found different ways to prevent frost from affecting their crops and use ways such as fans, sprinklers, and heaters to keep those vineyards nice and cozy for the upcoming harvest season.
