Malbec- A Grape Variety in Cahors, France
September 16, 2020
Harvest Season in Wine Country
September 25, 2020On the sweeter side of red wines, Grenache emanates flavors similar to a fruit roll up with a back end of spicy cinnamon and black pepper and finishing with hints of tobacco. Typically, this grape variety is blended with other high quality wines, but a bottle of 100% blended Grenache is not unheard of. One of the most widely planted, these vine fruits flourish in long, warm seasoned environments in Southern France, Spain, Italy, and California. Although grown throughout Southern France, Grenache grapes originated in Spain and were referred to as Garnacha. This way, Spain could distinguish its wine to buyers from the Southern France Grenache. Looking to have a glass for dinner tonight? This spicy and sweet wine pairs well with slow roasted meats, curries, and the British favorite, bangers and mash.
