One Bourbon. One Scotch. Three Major Differences

August 18, 2020When thinking about a popular bourbon cocktail, many would say that three come to mind. If you are looking for one of the oldest known cocktails, that is still very popular to this day, an Old Fashioned is your match. This cocktail is served on the rocks with muddled sugar and Angostura bitters. Its distinct giveaway from others will be a garnish of orange peel and a cherry. Next up, although typically made with Rye, this 1880’s originated cocktail can also be made with bourbon. Manhattan’s are made with Angostura bitters and Vermouth, then served straight up into a chilled cocktail glass with a cherry garnish. The last of the popular three is known as the official drink of the Kentucky Derby since 1938. A favorite in the South, The Mint Julep is a simple bourbon cocktail made with simple syrup and mint leaves then served in its signature glassware, the high ball glass over crushed ice. Even if you have not had any of these popular bourbon cocktails, trying one would not be a disappointment to your taste buds.
